German Tambourelli Tournament September 2011




World Champion wins in Germany

The current World Tambourelli Men’s Singles Champion from Newton Stewart, Bazil Hughes, has just been to the German Tambourelli Tournament in Dresden to try his hand against the best German players.

50 people of all ages came to the 4th German Open Tambourelli Championships that was held in an Exhibition Centre at a weekend for many types of Children’s Games and Entertainment.

Bazil Hughes won the Men’s Singles; Mixed Doubles with his mother, Chloe Bruce; and Men’s Doubles with one of the earliest players of Tambourelli, Oliver Tringham.

The Women’s final was between Anna and Susie from Dresden who also won the Women’s Doubles against Chloe and Steffie.


Next year Scottish Tambourelli wishes to take a bigger group to enter the World Tambourelli Championship which will be hosted in Dresden in 2012 for the first time.

10 Scottish Tambourelli players travelled to Riverford Farm, Devon to compete in the World Outdoor Tambourelli Championships 2011.
The Men's Singles semi finals were all Newton players: Malcom Hayes winning against Andrew Priestman and Bazil Hughes winning against last year's World Champion Liam Campbell. In the gripping final Bazil Hughes became the champion against Malcolm Hayes.

The Women's Singles was also a challeging game with Newton Stewart player Stacey Duff winning against Dilushi Jayasingha(DJ ) from London.

Doubles was won by Seth Priestman and Esra Cohen (England) playing against Malcom Hayes and Johnny Tillbrooke (England). This was a game of skills from many years of play.

The Under 14s competed for the The Luscombe Cup
